Prof. Dr. Thomas Hoeren

Prof. Dr. Thomas Hoeren was born in 1961 and studied law at the universities of Münster, Tübingen and London. His doctorate examined questions in IT contract law and his post doctoral thesis examined self-regulating questions particularly in the areas of arbitration. He is the director of the Institute of Information, Telecommunications and Media Law at the Wilhelms University of Münster in Westphalia and was a judge at the Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court (in copyright and media law) for 15 years until 2011. He is an associate lecturer at the universities of Zurich and Vienna and lecturer at the Münster Academy of Art. Alongside numerous other activities, Prof. Dr. Thomas Hoeren is also a member of an expert committee for copyright and publication law of the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property and Copyright Law and is co-editor of the magazine “Multimedia und Recht” (Multimedia and Law). In addition to this, he is also an arbitrator including for the World Intellectual Property Organization
(WIPO).
