Prof. Dr. jur. Oliver Castendyk

Prof. Dr. jur. Oliver Castendyk, MSc. (London School of Economics) is a partner in the Brehm & von Moers law firm in Berlin. From 1991 to 1992 he worked with the KirchGruppe, from 1992-2000 as head of the legal department of ProSieben Media AG. Since 2001 he has been advising clients in the film production, broadcasting and print sectors. Positions include advisor of the Association of Technical Enterprises of Film and Television (VTFF), Scientific Director and Head of the Entertainment Section of the Alliance of German Producers – Film & Television as well as a member of the supervisory board of X-Verleih-AG.

Alongside these professional roles, he also pursues academic interests. From 2001 to 2009 he was director of the Erich Pommer Institute for Media Law and Media Economy, from 2004 to 2009 he assumed a five-year endowed professorship for public and private media law at the Faculty of Law of Potsdam University. He is the director of the Research Centre of Audiovisual Communication of Hamburg Media School and co-editor of the law magazine “Multimedia und Recht“ (MMR).
